Much of Baker went up between the 1950s and 1970s, which means 1x6 plank decking rather than plywood or OSB on a lot of houses. Plank decking is perfectly serviceable, but boards split at the fasteners and cup over decades, and a shingle nailed into a split board does not hold in wind. Our estimates here include an allowance for board replacement and a photograph of anything we swap.

The other Baker pattern is ventilation that was never designed. Older gable vents alone cannot move enough air through a Louisiana attic, and the result is shingles cooking from underneath and reaching end of life five years early. Where the roof geometry allows it, we correct intake and exhaust as part of the replacement instead of putting a new roof on the same problem.

Baker also has a lot of homes where the last roof was an insurance job done quickly after a storm. If yours is one of those, an inspection is worth it even on a roof that looks new, hurried installs show up at the flashings first.
